Summer Oil Changes in Orange

How long should you go between oil changes? For most vehicles made after 2008, it’s generally a good idea to have the oil changed every 5,000 to 7,500 miles. If the vehicle is older than 2007, or if it has more than 100,000 miles on it, bring it in every 3,000 to 5,000 miles.

Of course, this is a general guideline, but there are some exceptions. We always recommend you check your vehicle’s manual for the specific oil change interval. (Can’t find your Ford manual? We got you covered.)

The type of oil you put into your vehicle also affects the mileage interval. Conventional oil breaks down faster than synthetic blend or full synthetic oils. In the Ford Quick Lane, we use a synthetic blend standard for all oil changes, and we also offer premium full synthetic.

Any mechanic know that oil changes are vital to the health of your vehicle – but not just because of the engine. In fact, most unrelated vehicle issues are detected during routine maintenance, like during an oil change.

The Quick Lane at Sabine River Ford provides The Works™ Package, which includes an oil change, tire rotation, fluid top-off, and a 29-point inspection. The Works Package is one of our more popular service items and can be scheduled ahead of time or drop in.

Let Things Flow

The most important parts of your car aren’t actually parts – they’re fluids (that includes your oil)!

Coolant, brake fluid, differential fluid, transmission fluid, and power steering fluid all keep your vehicle running smoothly.

Much like oil changes, coolants should be flushed and replaced at regular intervals to ensure proper performance. Consult your vehicle manual or a certified mechanic to find specific mileage or Ford maintenance schedules based on your vehicle and your driving history.

If you suspect that you might need a flush or a replacement of any vehicle fluids, please contact our Orange TX service department today.

Get a Grip Before Your Summer Trip

Like oil changes, tires are an important part of your vehicle, and the heat of Texas certainly wears them down.

If your tire tread is 2/32” deep (or less), consider replacing them before your summer road trips. Don’t have a tire tread ruler? Do the penny test at home by watching a quick how to video!

Having a good tire tread allows for the vehicle to move water away from the tires during periods of rain. If the tread is thin, vehicles can start to hydroplane – a dangerous “skiing” effect, which can cause you to lose control of your vehicle at high speeds.

Feel the Breeze (From Your AC)

It might sound silly to check your car’s air conditioning during the summer, but you don’t want to be caught without it on your next road trip across Texas or Louisiana.

Unless you are one to actively have it looked at during another season that’s not so hot, summer is just as good of any season to check and make sure it’s blowing cold air on you and your seat mates. Most people forget to have the AC checked until something happens, so get in and have one of our certified service technicians test it.

Enjoy the Summer Ride

Our service department team loves working on vehicles. Some have been at Sabine River Ford for a good portion of their careers. It’s easy to have your vehicle checked over, either schedule service online, call our Orange service department, or stop in to our Quick Lane.
