From the bottom of the tires all the way up to the sunroof, the 2018 Ford Expedition has been refreshed and redesigned to give you the best full-size SUV experience in the country.

It’s been a long while since we’ve gotten an Expedition redesign, but once you see what this new SUV brings to the road, you’ll agree: It was worth the wait.

Maybe you’re used to having to compromise smooth handling for the raw power of a larger vehicle. If so, the new Ford Expedition will be an adjustment for all the right reasons.

You’ll be motoring with a 3.5L EcoBoost standard engine. The responsiveness in this ride is incredible, thanks to the direct injection getting power from every drop of gas, and the twin air-to-air intercooled turbochargers delivering surges of extra power.

Plus, you’re riding in comfort. In this new rendition of the SUV, the engineers at Ford ditched the solid rear axle for an independent rear suspension, giving each wheel the chance to handle the road as it finds it, and giving you more control and a smoother experience.

Compared to the older Expeditions, you’ll also have increased leg- and head room, a convenient fold-flat third-row bench seat and low load-floor height.

And we haven’t even started bragging about the add-on features and higher trim levels yet.

Maybe you’re torn - wishing you could hop into a brand new Ford F-150, but knowing you need the extra seating for your most precious cargo.

Buddy, don’t worry.

First off, yes, this new-and-improved full-size SUV has a seat for everyone in the family. Fit up to eight passengers, and give them room to stretch and wiggle their toes. You also better believe you’ve got the cargo space you need.

But you’re also going to be doing things no other passenger vehicle can manage quite so confidently and smoothly. Your Expedition’s the standard 3.5L EcoBoost engine will give you 375 horsepower and 470 lb.-ft. of torque. That adds up to best-in-class 9,300-lb. towing capacity when you’ve got the Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow Package.

Trailer sway control, AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control, and an available Blind Spot Information System make this one of the best towing vehicles out there - with all due respect to the F-150.

And if you go for the available Pro Trailer Backup Assist, there’ll be a lot less cursing when you try to steer a trailer in reverse.

Try for Yourself

Honestly, we could go on a lot longer. I haven’t told you about the Hill Start Assist or the FX4 Off-Road Package. We barely got into the cargo space (a full 104.6 cu. ft behind the first row of seating, 63.6 cu. ft. behind the second row, and 20.9 cu. ft behind the third).

And I haven’t written a word on the technology yet, keeping you safer and more connected on the road than ever before. But I don’t want to spoil everything. The truth is, if this is what you’re looking for, we need to get you in for a test drive - pronto!
